my summer fitspiration has always had a Manon des Sources esthétique…think manic-pixie-peasant-girl. blame it on the fact that i’ve spent nearly every memorable june/july of the past 23 years (over)indulging in the european countryside, but i rarely shave my armpits or cover my nipples. so when off-the-shoulder-everything hit its stride a few years ago, i was all for it. unfortunately, i suffered the same inevitable and unflattering uni-boob these a-line tops generally give more ample-bosomed women. i was constantly shimmying, readjusting, and impaling myself on whatever safety-pinned contraption i had rigged to mimic the effortless look achieved by smaller-breasted women. and fuck a strapless bra. me and all my homies hate strapless bras. 🖕🏼
at the ripe old age of 26, i have finally admitted defeat and compromised my unflinching loyalty to microscopic daisy duke’s. you see, i am tired. tired of labial wedgies. tired of swamp ass. tired of having to remember to shave every time i put on shorts, of scalding my thighs on leather car seats, and inevitable chaffing. i have come to realize that there is no point in wearing something you can’t move in, especially when it’s 93 degrees outside with 80% humidity. Mother Nature wins. i have surrendered to the Bermuda Short (much to my surprise, far more leg lengthening. and the rest of my body looks tiny in comparison). if i put on a 4” wedge, i would pass out from the high altitude. nowadays, i am all about comfort. i want light, airy, and no underwear needed.

this is so fucking hot. laces up in the back for extra drama. cinched waist emphasizes the bust & adds an element of structure that doesn’t come with the standard button down. it’s usually impossible for me to find a good white button down off the rack that fits my rack & also tapers neatly at the waistline (w/out safety pins).
pro tip: for regular button downs, check for darting at the bustline. essential if you want to avoid gapping or busting out your top button in the middle of the fish course.
